One evening, I was inspired to blurt out, “Bethany, you and Maria Esther have to record an album together. Maria Esther’s songs, and the way you sing them in Portuguese and English, is just too heartfelt, too beautiful, and too moving to NOT make a record. And please, I want to sing on it too.” – Peter Yarrow (2023)
The resulting album, called "Gonga Lerê", will be released in 2026. It carries on Peter's legacy of singing straight from the heart about what truly matters in this world of illusion. These are songs of love, forgiveness, truth and peace that we can sing together – songs to give us hope and courage in the face of these impossibly difficult times. These were the last recordings Peter made before he passed in January 2025.
